After NFL week 1, there are a few head coaches who are in the hot seat. While these all may be outlandish predictions, it’s never too early to talk about who is on the hot seat around the league. For different reasons, many coaches are riding on this season, and for some of them, it is a make-or-break year for their future.
Three head coaches stand out as potentially the first to be fired in the year if there is not a drastic change. While coaches will only start to be cut in late October if not later, These coaches need to make changes fast.
New York Giants – Brian Daboll
The New York Giants looked abysmal across the board in their week 1 beat down, and while their quarterback has one of the worst contracts in the NFL, head coach Brian Daboll is already on the hot seat.
While Daboll got the Coach of the Year Award back in 2022, the Giants have been awful under his leadership every other year. The Giants got blown out by Minnesota in Sam Dranold’s first start with the team.
The team was booed off the field, and Daniel Jones was booed all the way to his car. If nothing changes then Daboll could easily be the first to go this year. It’s already getting ugly in New York.
WOW… #Giants fans were BURNING DANIEL JONES JERSEYS in the team parking lot after today’s loss

New York Jets – Robert Salah
The New York Jets may have had small moments in their opening matchup, but they ended up getting totally outclassed but a real football team who has real Super Bowl potential.
Head coach Robert Saleh is continuously running out of excuses, and if things do not change quickly with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, it would not be surprising if Saleh gets the boot this year. Rodgers does not have much time left, and the organization thinks this is a championship-level team. If they keep losing in this fashion, Saleh will not be there for long.
Robert Saleh is just 18-34 as the Jets head coach over the past 3+ seasons.
Feels like that needs to be talked about more. pic.twitter.com/Gj0mXLDbgm

You are out of your goddamn mind if you think Robert Saleh is coaching any team to a Super Bowl, much less the Jets.
I’m talking to you, ESPN morning shows.

Cincinnati Bengals – Zac Taylor
This is a classic example of a make-or-break year for a team, as the Cincinnati Bengals have been knocking on the door for a few years now. Head coach Zac Taylor was getting called out by fans throughout their shocking loss to the New England Patriots.
This loss, as more than a touchdown favorite, was a very bad way to start the 2024 campaign. Although we have seen the Bengals start poor and finish strong, if this continues they may not have a chance to get back in their division race which features some solid teams.
Their team’s star player Ja’Marr Chase had remarks after the game that seemed to infer a bit of an issue in the locker room with coach Taylor.
“I don’t know,” Chase said postgame when asked about his involvement on Sunday. “You got to ask Zac on that — I don’t know.”
If the Bengals do not perform up to par this year, and their stars keep taking shots at the head coach, We may see new leadership in Cincy at the latest, next season.

All the rah rah I hate Zac Taylor and his play calling, all Joe has to do here is set his feet and rip it and this isn't even the last drive where he missed him again. If you got dudes open and you're missing them, that's an execution thing. #RuleTheJungle pic.twitter.com/SBzdbg6SGR
