2025 NFL Draft: Cam Ward Sends Strong Message To NFL teams. “If you don’t draft me I’ll remember that”

Cam Ward sent a strong message to NFL teams amid the 2025 NFL draft process. The Miami Hurricanes quarterback is making sure teams take notice, and teams should pick him or fear the consequences of facing the dynamic signal-caller as he’s ready to lead at the next level.

Despite Ward emerging as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, he knows that being selected is a 50-50 chance with every team.

During his speech on Monday night, while receiving the Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s top college quarterback, Ward made it clear to any team that asks about him sitting out the final half of his last collegiate game. He said:

“OK, you’re either going to draft me or you’re not,” Ward told the Associated Press. “If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”

Cam Ward has a word of warning to any teams that pass on the opportunity to draft him.

"If you don't draft me, that's your fault,"

"You've got to remember you're the same team that's got to play me for the rest of my career, and I'll remember that."

Cam Ward Faced Criticism during Miami’s Pop-Tarts Bowl loss to Iowa State.

Despite Cam Ward breaking the NCAA Division I record for career touchdown passes before halftime, he still faced a lot of controversy and criticism from fans for not playing in the second half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl on December 29, 2024.

The loss to Iowa State geared cursing comments from fans. Most stated their displeasure through various social media platforms. However, for Quarterback Ward this was a decision he doesn’t regret, even to date. Ward also clarified that sitting out the second half was always part of the plan.

“I just think we all got what we needed out of it. They seen things that they think they need to work on … for this season coming up. And they also knew, you know, what I had on the line,” Ward said. “We feel like we’re doing what’s best for the program and myself. I mean, it was a hard decision, especially when, you know, some guys on our team didn’t play who I thought should have played. It was also, you know, those guys thought about their future the same way I thought about mine.”

With all that’s wrong with Cam Ward & his bullshit decision to sit out the second half of Miami’s bowl game(a loss), there are plenty of guys like Demetrius Knight in the world.

Glad we are fans of the Demetrius Knights of the world.#PopTartBowl

When NFL teams are analyzing their potential drafts, Cam Ward’s decision to sit out the second half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl likely won’t affect his draft stock, but rather, it might position him as a high prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. NFL teams might focus on his confidence in how he addresses these questions.

According to NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah Cam Ward ranked No. 10 overall prospect entering the draft and the No. 1 QB ahead of Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. With several teams in need of a franchise QB, Ward is projected as a top-five pick, possibly going first to Tennessee or a team trading up.

To Ward, Jayden Daniels’ immediate success is a source of motivation for him and every other first-year quarterback.

“To see him succeed is motivating for not only myself but all of the other quarterbacks,” he said.
