Brent Venables and the rest of the Oklahoma staff have been killing it on the recruiting trail so far. They’ve landed over 12 commits in the past two months, and show no sign of slowing down. They’ve done a great job of not only recruiting, but scouting as well. There have been several players in the class that have flew up the board in the past few weeks such as Samuel Omosigho, Jackson Arnold, and Jaquaize Pettaway. However, there is one man that has seen a huge rise in the rankings that has been unparalleled. That player is none other than Oklahoma commit PJ Adebawore.
What Has Caused this Sudden Surge in the Rankings?
Adebawore has been one of the biggest names in recruiting over the summer. He was formerly an unranked prospect before he switched to the defensive side of the ball. After he made the switch, he found himself in the top 250 of many recruiting sites after a standout junior season in which he racked up 17.5 sacks. Stats aren’t the only thing that jumps off the page with Adebawore however. His physical tools give him a real chance to set himself apart. Listed at 6’5″, 240 pounds with a whopping seven foot wingspan, Adebawore has all the physical tools to be a dominant force at the next level. Many Sooner fans expected the Oklahoma commit to make the jump to 5-star status sooner or later, but he may end up higher than expected. On3 has him listed as the number seven overall recruit in the entire nation, and he has been creeping up the board on both the Rivals, and 247 websites.
PJ’s ceiling is extremely high, there’s no denying it. With his physical skillset, there’s no telling what he’ll be able to do at the college level. Could Adebawore be the next Sooner great on the defensive front? Only time will tell. With a great defensive coaching staff and all of Sooner nation behind him, he has everything he needs to be one of the best in all of college football. Boomer!
