Naquil Betrand is currently listed at 6’7 310 lbs and looks the part. He is one of those players who are just up and down big and is still growing into his body. Betrand’s highlight videos show someone who is physically raw with plenty of natural strength. Naquil has quick feet and moves well for someone of his size. He has the athleticism to excel in a zone or gap scheme and the pure power to do well in man blocking and pass pro. Bertrand needs to work on his basic technique and his use of leverage.
Betrand’s Physical Potential
What is impressive about Bertrand’s highlights is you can see plays where he makes a mistake yet still dominates the opposition. When you can fix your mistakes with pure physical ability, that is natural talent. When you add hard work and technique to natural talent is when you become a dominant player. Naquil has the potential to develop into a dominant player.
Bertrand needs time in the weight room to add strength and begin to tap his physical potential. Betrand is someone who can help your depth chart immediately at guard but should redshirt as he refines his technique and gets stronger. Naquil is an example of recruiting to a physical prototype, he has the size, footwork, and natural strength you look for, now you help him develop his abilities on the field.
Naquil Betrand is the 10th commitment of A&M’s 2023 recruiting class and the third offensive tackle, joining Chase Bisontis and Colton Thomasson. Bertrand ranks as the #3 OT in Pennsylvania and #78 in the nation per the 247 Composite. Betrand chose A&M over offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia, Colorado, and others.
