2023 NFL MVP odds favor AFC quarterbacks
Patrick Mahomes just took home the NFL MVP prize this week. But the odds are already out for who sports bettors think will win the 2023 NFL MVP award. Mahomes took home his second MVP award for the 2022 season. He won the award in 2018, and one would expect he’ll be the favorite heading into next season.
According to Sumer Sports, Mahomes is a part of a three-way tie for the betting market implied chance of winning the 2023 NFL MVP. The other two quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow have a 10.8-percent odds of winning next season. Justin Herbert is fourth with 8.6-percent odds. Former Alamaba teammates Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts are tied for the fifth-best odds at 6.6 percent.

One thing in common at the top, the group is AFC-heavy. Hurts is the only NFC player in the top five. Aaron Rodgers, the last NFC player to win the award for the 2021 season, is given a 3.3-percent chance of winning in 2023. These odds are very early, as the makeup of NFL team’s rosters will change dramatically after the Super Bowl. Free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft will change these percentages before next season starts.
