There are many players, coaches and others who take part in the NFL every year that deserve credit for the things that they do and accomplish.  The 2023 NFL Honor Awards takes a look at these accomplishments and awards these people for their many talents.

I had the opportunity to write about some of the categories earlier in which I got right. Then on a couple of the categories I feel that they got wrong.

Let’s take a look at some of these that took place back on Thursday, Feb 9, 2023 at Symphony Hall in Phoenix, AZ.

    Brian Daboll
New York Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll is the NFL 2022 coach of the year (photo courtesy of bvmsports.com)

    Coach of the Year

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll without a doubt deserves to win this award. He had already won assistant coach of the year in 2021 as offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills. He accepted the head coaching position of the New York Giants on Jan 28, 2022, and things took off. The Giants made the playoffs and won the NFC Wildcard Game against the Minnesota Vikings.

While he won this award as a head coach of the Giants, he can still trace it to his routes as an assistant under Sean McDermott in Buffalo. He would not be where he is today without that organization. Congrats Coach. Once a Bill, always a Bill. I had a chance to write about this back on Jan 12, picking Daboll as my choice.  – AGREE

Offensive Player of the Year: Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

No disrespect to Justin Jefferson. He’s a phenomenal receiver, but he already won Moment Of The Year Award. I felt this should have gone to Joe Burrow because of his coolness in the pocket and his leadership to help his squad reach the AFC Championship Game.

Also, Burrow is now a household name along with quarterbacks: Super Bowl LVII MVP Patrick Mahomes, and the gunslinger himself known as Josh Allen. Again, this is not to say that Jefferson can’t win two awards, it’s just the NFL is supposed to give these awards in the name of diversity, equity and inclusion. – DISAGREE

    Josh Jacobs 1

FedEX Air and Ground Player of the Year: Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals; Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders

Burrow and Jacobs both won these awards consecutively. I fully agree with Jacobs winning Ground Player of the Year. Jacobs had faced some personal adversity off the field in his past, but this year, he fixed it and showed Coach McDaniels why he’s still one of the best backs in the NFL.

I respectively disagree in Burrow’s selection. My choice for Air Player Of The Year would be Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Sure Burrow circles the cigar smoking wagons, however; nobody throws the ball harder, like the 7th overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft from Wyoming.

In a TNF game on the road at the New England Patriots, Allen rolled out to the right side of the field and nearly going out of bounds, turned around and threw a td pass across his body to (WR) Gabe Davis with 5:27 left in the first half. – DISAGREE

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Garrett Wilson- New York Jets

Wilson had a fantastic season with the NY Jets in his first year as a pro. The Gen-Z receiver born in the year 2000 showed he is already a man child, as he racked up 83 catches for 1,103 yards. It’s even more impressive because the Jets were inconsistent at the starting qb position, so he was able to hurl passes from both Zach Wilson and Mike White. I previously wrote who I thought should win Rookie of the Year, so why don’t you all take a look. – (??)

Defensive Player of the Year: Nick Bosa- San Francisco 49ers

I don’t know if it’s his ability to sack the quarterback, or if he has the Bosa name tag, but I respectfully disagree with Bosa winning this award.  He has the bloodlines, but I think he’s a one trick pony and all he can do is rush the passer.

Baldy people only understand stats!! Not football! https://t.co/xehGmip5jB

    — Micah Parsons (@MicahhParsons11) January 10, 2023

I think Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys should have won hands down. He is more multidimensional than Bosa as not only can he rush the passer, but he can zoom into the backfield and pursuit to the ball- carrier, while tackling on the perimeter.  He is also a team leader and he can stop the run, unlike Bosa. – DISAGREE

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Ahmad (Sauce) Gardner- New York Jets

The Jets won not one, but two-rookie of the year awards. Garrett Wilson no doubt was the choice among offense for rookies as he bursted onto the scene in his first-year as a pro. Meanwhile, Gardner was another excellent selection as the rookie CB from Cincinnati was a ball hawk, picking off two passes from Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen.- AGREE

What do you guys think of my picks and opinions? What would your picks be?
