The running back position has become one that the NFL rarely values in the 1st round. The 2023 class will put this theory to the test.

    #1 Bijan Robinson- Texas Longhorns

If I can convey one thing in this article, it is that we should appreciate what a talent Bijan Robinson is. Bijan Robinson is in the Saquon Barkley/Christian McCaffrey mold, where you can line him up all over the field, and he is a match-up problem.

#2 Jahmyr Gibbs- Alabama Crimson Tide

Jahmyr Gibbs appears to be in line for the lead role in the Crimson Tide backfield. Gibbs was used more in the receiving game than you would think and has a complete skill set. If you are looking for a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate, Jahmyr Gibbs is your guy.

    #3 Sean Tucker- Syracuse Orangemen

Will Sean Tucker become a 1st round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft?
    Sean Tucker, Syracuse RB

Sean Tucker is one of the most exciting players in college football heading into 2022. Tucker is the entire Syracuse offense. With a track background, Sean Tucker is a big play waiting to happen. Sean Tucker produced 1,750 total yards in 2022. Sean Tucker is one of few prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class checking all the boxes.

#4 Devon Achane- Texas A&M Aggies

Devon Achane is an electrifying watch on film. Achane averaged 7 yards per carry and ten yards per reception every time he touched the football. At 5’9, 185 lbs. Achane is a bit undersized. I would like to see him add some weight to be able to increase his odds of holding up to the physicality at the next level.

#5 Zach Evans- Ole Miss Rebels

I can’t wait to see Zach Evans in an Ole Miss uniform. Zach Evans is a terrific talent, but there was not much talent around him during his career at TCU. 2022 can be the breakout season for Zach Evans–he has the talent to put it all together.

    #6 Tank Bigsby- Auburn Tigers

Is Tank Bigsby the top running back in the SEC?
    Tank Bigsby, Auburn RB

Tank Bigsby is a bell cow running back for the Auburn Tigers. At 6’0, 210 lbs. as one would think with the name Tank–Bigsby is a physical runner capable of punishing would-be defenders.

    #7 Zach Charbonnet- UCLA Bruins

Following his transfer from Michigan to UCLA in 2021, Zach Charbonnet immediately slid in as the starting running back for the Bruins. Charbonnet had such a stellar 2021 season that many thought he would enter the 2022 NFL Draft. Zach Charbonnet surprisingly returned for his 2022 season. Zach Charbonnet is one of the most physical players in all college football.

#8 Chris Rodriguez Jr.- Kentucky Wildcats

Why is Chris Rodriguez Jr. underrated?
    Chris Rodriguez, Kentucky RB

Chris Rodriguez Jr. is one of the more underappreciated players in college football. The Kentucky offense took a big step in 2021, and there is no reason to suggest that the Wildcats will be slowing down in 2022. I am fascinated to see how the NFL feels about Chris Rodriguez Jr.

    #9 Blake Corum- Michigan Wolverines

Now that Hassan Haskins is off to the NFL, Blake Corum should take on a more significant role in the Wolverine backfield. Corum is built low to the ground at 5’8 200 lbs. Blake Corum is more versatile than some pundits give him credit. How Michigan deploys its backs this year will be fascinating to watch.

#10 Tavion Thomas- Utah Runnin’ Utes

For a player who rushed for 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, Tavion Thomas remains under the radar. At 6’2 220 lbs. Tavion Thomas is a unique archetype. Thomas does not offer much in the passing game. It would be nice to see him add that capability to his skill set in 2022.
