What is Fantasy Football season for if you can’t release a bold prediction or a hot take? Today, we look at our five hot takes at the quarterback position for 2022.
Lamar Jackson finishes the 2022 season as the QB1
Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens sustained as much bad luck as any team in the NFL a season ago. Injuries ravaged this team from the preseason throughout the year. Lamar Jackson has not signed a contract extension with the Ravens, choosing to bet on himself and to earn the raise. I anticipate Lamar Jackson playing somewhere between his 2019 and 2020 performances. Rushing for 1,000 yards will be on the table, and 30 plus touchdowns make him the top quarterback in fantasy football in 2022.
Trey Lance finishes the 2022 season as a top-five fantasy QB
The rushing upside is apparent, and we all know how much rushing matters at the quarterback position. Kyle Shanahan will have a plan for his young quarterback. Trey Lance keeps his season afloat in the 1st half by using his legs around the goal-line, and then in the 2nd half of the season, he takes off, leading many teams to a fantasy football title.
Dak Prescott returns to pre-injury form, becomes a top-five fantasy QB
The Dallas Cowboys run one of the most fast-paced offenses in the NFL. The coaching staff has already said that Dak Prescott will run the ball more. Throw in the “best shape of my life” narrative from Dak Prescott himself! What’s not to like? Dak Prescott gives you much more rushing upside than we gave him credit. Dak Prescott is back in a big way in 2022, putting up a top-five fantasy season.
Jalen Hurts crashes and burns, finishing outside the QB top ten.

The Philadelphia Eagles know they need to figure out whether Jalen Hurts is the future of the quarterback position or not. A season ago, the Eagles hid Jalen Hurts in their run-heavy approach and were able to string together a winning streak. When the playoffs arrived, they saw a team woefully outgunned against a Buccaneer’s offense led by Tom Brady. They will not hide Jalen Hurts in 2022, and he will not have the rushing upside to hide his passing deficiencies. Jalen Hurts finishes outside the top ten at the quarterback position, and the Eagles move on at quarterback in 2023.
Derek Carr leads the NFL in passing yards and sneaks in a top ten season.
All signs point to a banner year for Derek Carr. For starters, Derek Carr has become a better quarterback over the years. The Raiders bring in Josh McDaniels to mode his offense around Carr. Then the Raiders made one of the big splashes of the off-season when they traded for Davante Adams. The Raider’s defense remains suspect, and they will be in many shootouts. Derek Carr will lead the league in passing yards and puts up a top-ten performance at the quarterback position.
