The College Football Season is getting closer. With 17 days left until BYU kickoffs against South Florida let’s get to know some players on the roster for this upcoming season. This will give fans an idea of where these players have come from and what they could do for the cougars this season. I will do one every day there is a player with that number.
Matthew Criddle
Today is Matthew Criddle senior defensive back 6-1 195 lbs. Went to Lone Peak High and then went to Snow College after high school. Criddle went on a two-year LDS mission to Ecuador. He came to BYU in 2018 and played in all 13 games and had two tackles and one pass breakup. In 2019 Criddle played in 9 games and had four tackles. 2020 he played in 12 games and had nine tackles. Last season he played in nine games and had 13 tackles, one interception, and one pass breakup. Criddle is currently a second-stringer behind George Udo.
Jacob Conover
Today is Jacob Conover freshman quarterback 6-1 205 lbs. Conover is from Chandler High School in Arizona. Served his mission in Paraguay. He came to BYU in 2020 and played on the scout team joining after fall camp. Last year he redshirted playing in two games Utah State and Idaho State. Conover had five completions for 45 yards. Conover is listed as Jaren Halls backup for this season and will lead BYU in the Big 12.
