Weekend College Football Championship Preview
Overview:
The college football championship landscape looks completely different than it did at the beginning of the season. We’ve had major upsets, historic offensive output over a multitude of conferences, revival of historic programs, & (most notably) the resurgence of the PAC12. Programs like Tennessee, Washington, Kansas State, & USC have enjoyed banner years after a few downtrodden seasons. Programs like Miami, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, & Wisconsin have had less than stellar years after extremely high expectations.
Perennial CFP contenders & conference championship mainstays like Alabama, Ohio State, & Oklahoma aren’t playing for their conference championships this cycle. Ohio St (11-1) & Alabama (10-2) are sitting at 5th & 6th in the CFP rankings & need absolute chaos to have a shot at getting in. The 4 teams above them? Georgia (12-0), Michigan (12-0), TCU (12-0!!!), & USC (11-1).
Sure, most people believed Georgia & Michigan would be here at the end. That’s not a surprise at all. A decent faction of people, myself included, predicted USC to be here at this juncture. However, not many people (if any), though the TCU Horned Frogs would be sitting here at 12-0 in December. Now that the picture is painted, let’s predict the scores of the college football conference championship weekend.
