The New York Jets are in hot water this week thanks to QB Aaron Rodgers. Earlier this week, it was revealed he was skipping the team’s mandatory minicamp and that it was an unexcused absence.
This left some members of the media outraged. However, the fans do not necessarily feel that way. New York Jets fans defended Rodgers’ decision and are not worried about him going forward.

This morning, WFAN sports radio host Brandon Tierney called out Aaron Rodgers for skipping the team’s mandatory minicamp. This tweet came as a reply to New York Jets CB Sauce Gardner, who found it ridiculous that some people were upset about Rodgers’ decision here.
After Tierney posted his reply to Gardner, Jets fans were quick to defend Aaron Rodgers for skipping the minicamp. Many fans even compared Rodgers to Tom Brady. Here were some of the most notable comments:
“Tom Brady literally missed training camp with the Bucs and nobody cared. But of course since it’s the Jets now everyone is going to make it a bigger deal then it is”
“Stop it bro. You are grasping at straws. It’s freaking June. Not a big deal.”
“Bro… Stop. Go outside. Enjoy the nice weather. Live a little.”
“Got nothing to talk about and making sh*t up. Find me one fan who cares about this stuff”
“You are literally the only fan I’ve seen care about this”

Earlier this week, Gridiron Heroics’ own Alec Musa pointed out Geoff Schwartz’s initial reaction to Rodgers skipping the minicamp. Schwartz was blunt in mentioning that every other starting quarterback was at their minicamp and Jets fans would excuse Rodgers for his absence:
“Every starting quarterback is at their mandatory minicamp, while the Jets’ starting quarterback is on vacation for his team’s minicamp. Those are the facts. Jets fans will make every excuse for it, but the rest of his peers managed not to double-book this week. Oh well.” -Geoff Schwartz
New York Jets Moving Forward

It is fair for Jets fans to point out that Tom Brady got away with skipping minicamp with Tampa Bay. However, there is a key difference there.
Brady won seven Super Bowls by that point, including one with the Buccaneers. Meanwhile, the Jets have not won a Super Bowl since 1968 and Aaron Rodgers has not won one since 2010. If the Jets have another poor season, fans and media alike are sure to remind the team of this.
